Spring events at Whitefish Point
We have two events this spring, for those of you who are interested in visiting the area and learning more about birds and migration! The big event is our Birdathon in mid-May, with a celebration dinner and presentation on May 17. Grab a buddy to make a team and come on up for a fun, full day of birding during peak migration in the eastern Upper Peninsula.
The Birdathon official 24-hour period is from 7pm May 16- 7pm May 17. During those hours, look and listen for as many species of birds as you can find in Chippewa County, Michigan, then join us in Paradise for a celebration dinner Saturday evening. And no, you don't need to be birding for twenty-four hours unless you want to — we've included a "daylight hours only" option, too: we want to make this event as fun for as many people as we can. So find a friend or several, do a little fundraising for Friends of Whitefish Point, and bring your binoculars to the UP in mid-May for a fun and slightly competitive event. There will be prizes!
If you would like to just come to the Birdathon celebration dinner and presentation, there is an option for that as well. AND you can order one of the special limited-edition t-shirts we have available!

The other event is the opportunity to visit the Owl Banding Station. There are several dates to choose from between now and the end of May. We are very excited to bring you these educational events, where you can learn more about migrating owls and even see one up close! Tickets are limited, so please register early if you already have plans to visit this spring.
